Bekkis first - and only - open air concert was performed as a
part of Derbys 'Big City Bash' in 1996. She hates this one. The weather was
boiling (even worse underneath stage lights!) and she made every mistake possible. Says
Bekki: "My fingers were so clammy with the heat and stage fright that they kept
slipping off the keys
I must have sounded more like Les Dawson than anything
else!"
To make matters worse, the concert was aired on BBC Radio Derby as a
simultaneous live broadcast. She received a DAT copy of this broadcast and has never
played it since. In fact, she tells us that it "mysteriously got left behind when I
moved house a few years ago". 'Nuff said
On the bright side, some great music was heard from Michael Shipway and
AirSculpture. Music played by Bekki was taken from Elysian
Fields and the set lasted for 35 minutes. Or should that be "35 minutes too
long
