| The "Chronicles of Narnia" score, by
Harry Gregson-Williams. |
| Does music get any more beautiful than this? Bekki thinks
not. She says that if she ever manages to compose anything half as good as this, she'll
die a happy woman. |
 |
| Serenata, by Immediate Music. |
| Bekki says that this music is like "Enigma on
steroids". Incredibly filmic, Immediate Music write epic themes with versions for
both orchestra alone and orchestra with choir. Bekki loves both but prefers the latter. |
 |
| The music from the "Tomb Raider"
games, by Nathan McCree. |
| Fantastically arranged and orchestrated, emotive and
ultra-melodic all at the same time. Bekki is jealous. She wishes she had written this
stuff herself. |
 |
| Adagio for Strings, by Samuel Barber. |
| A sad and beautiful piece, made famous by the film
"Platoon". The worst crime of the century has to be William Orbit's massacre of
this gorgeous work. Although, according to Bekki, her own
version isn't much better... |
 |
| Nothing Else Matters (version by the Vienna
Boys' Choir, not Metallica). |
| A magical track that combines a beautiful melody with superb
lyrics and, in the case of this version, an incredible orchestral arrangement of this
classic rock song. Bekki plays this at least once a day. Every day. |
 |
| Session, by Linkin Park. |
| Can't seem to get your head together in the morning? Does it
take you ages to wake up properly? Never fear. A few gallons of coffee down your throat,
and this track played at full volume will do the trick. OK, so Wagner would probably have
the same effect, but you can't play "air drums" to Wagner. |
 |
| My Immortal, by Evanescence. |
| Great music, lyrics and vocals. This is another track which
Bekki wishes she had written herself - however, it's very rare that she will listen to it
all the way through, as it reminds her of someone she'd rather forget. |
 |
| Tears in Rain, by Vangelis. |
| This track from the "Bladerunner" album is another
one which reminds Bekki of that certain someone she'd rather forget, which is why she
doesn't play it often. Still a beautiful piece of music regardless. |
 |
| Angel (Blank and Jones Remix), by Sarah
McLachlan. |
| A really catchy and well-produced ambient version of what is
arguably one of Sarah McLachlan's best tracks. This woman has a great voice. This is
another track that Bekki plays at least once a day. |
 |
| Lonelywood, by Jeremy Soule. |
| A fabulous piece of music, composed by the man who also
wrote the music for the Harry Potter games. Jeremy is one of Bekki's favourite composers
and apparently this track makes her "go squishy". The mind boggles. |
 |
| Return From The Grave, by Graham Revelle. |
| This is the main theme from the film "The Crow".
Bekki can't listen to this without crying, and lists it as "one of the most beautiful
pieces of music ever written". 'Nuff said. |
 |
| Scheherezade, by Rimsky-Korsakov. |
| Whilst writing "Shadow of the Wind", Bekki had to
restrain herself from playing this, as it would undoubtedly have given her an inferiority
complex. Unbeatable for Arabian imagery and orchestral mastery. |
 |
| Theme from "The Terminator", by Brad
Fiedel. |
| Be honest - don't you think that Big Arnie would have seemed
less frightening if he'd have had a different soundtrack to act to? Brilliantly
atmospheric and completely menacing. |
 |
| Theme from "The Green Mile", by
Thomas Newman. |
| Bekki has been a fan of Thomas Newman's for years and lists
this as her favourite work from him. Other favourites by this composer include the themes
from "An American Beauty" and "The Horse Whisperer". |
 |
| The whole score from "The Last
Samurai" by Hans Zimmer. |
| Probably the most listened to soundtrack in Bekki's house,
"The Last Samurai" is what she usually listens to when she's working on web
stuff. She describes it as the most emotive movie score she's ever heard. |
 |
| Ultraviolet, by Witchcraft. |
| Probably Bekki's favourite piece of music that has as yet
been released on the AD Music label. She says there's "just something sensual"
about it and we would be inclined to agree. Ambient meets Gothic meets EM. Sweet. |
